In order to align with other local car parks within the city, and to support Bath’s Clean Air Zone goals, we’re introducing a new emissions-based parking tariff at SouthGate Bath. Instead of a flat hourly rate, parking charges will now vary based on your vehicle’s CO₂ emissions. If emissions data is unavailable for your vehicle, engine size and fuel type will be used.

This change supports Bath’s Clean Air Zone goals and encourages the use of lower-emission vehicles. It also aligns SouthGate Bath with other local car parks already using similar systems, including those managed by Bath and North East Somerset Council, helping to reduce environmental impact throughout the city.

Charges are based on:

• CO₂ emissions (g/km) as recorded by the DVLA
• Fuel type (diesel, petrol, electric, hybrid)
• Engine size (if emissions data is unavailable)

Lower-emission vehicles pay less, while higher-emission vehicles pay more. If your vehicle’s data isn’t available or your number plate isn’t displayed correctly, the highest tariff will apply.

Overnight (6pm–5:59am): 50 to 65p per hour – based on vehicle emissions.

Motorcycles: £3.00 per 24-hour visit (12am to 11:59pm)

When you enter your registration at the payment machine, the system will automatically retrieve your vehicle’s emissions data from the DVLA and calculate the correct tariff.

Great news – electric vehicles (EVs) and low-emission hybrids will benefit from the lowest available tariffs.

If the DVLA doesn’t hold your vehicle’s emissions data, or your number plate isn’t displayed correctly, the highest tariff will apply for your stay. Please ensure your plate is clean and visible. We accept card and mobile app payments only. Payment machines are located on each level of the car park. Simply enter your registration number before returning to your vehicle.

The emissions-based tariff applies to all vehicles except those parked in the National Rail area, which continues to operate under a separate, fixed-rate system. Please refer to signage for details.

These parking charges apply to Blue Badge holders. Blue Badge holders must display their badge and park in designated bays.

Motorcycles remain free of charge and must park in designated bays.

The new tariff will be introduced on 1^st October 2025.
