We recently ran a competition on Facebook to find a budding food blogger who'd be willing to take on the challenging task of dining at one of our restaurants. You know what you’re getting when you go to Nando’s. There are many reasons why the South African chicken chain has become one of the nation’s favourite go-to places for great food. However, if you’re one of the few people yet to experience Nando’s and everything it has to offer, then the SouthGate branch is a great place to start.
The delicious aromas coming off of the huge chargrill hit you as you walk through the door, immediately alerting your senses to the culinary delights on offer. Chicken, as you would expect from a chicken joint, forms the backbone of the menu, but is increasingly being joined by an expanding selection of alternatives and extras. The new Fino Pitta is definitely worth a shot - toasted and filled with two flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken thighs, grilled halloumi cheese, caramelised red onion relish and wild garlic aioli mayonnaise, topped with lettuce. If meat isn’t your thing then the alternatives will stretch your tastebuds much further than the usual clichéd offerings most restaurants put out. Also part of the new menu is the Supergreen Burger (also served in a pitta or wrap). Made from lots of "green stuff like broccoli, edamame beans and kale”, this won’t disappoint.
Frozen yoghurts, gelato and brownies, amongst other sweet treats, comprise the dessert menu. Keep a special eye out for the Natas - a Portugese custard tart baked fresh on the premises.
For returning fans of the brand and newbies alike, Nando’s is the perfect place for grilled chicken and all the accoutrements.
