Some of the biggest trends in menswear for summer 2022 are classic pieces (cardigan, tapered trousers) mixed in with bright blast of tropical colours, long shorts for summer and loafers alongside pristine old-school trainers. For breakout pieces for the season such as neon T-shirts, bucket hats for summer and colour blocked hoodies then Tommy Hilfiger, H&M, Levi’s, All Saints, River Island and Urban Outfitters have you covered. If you’re looking for sneakers, brogues and sliders, Office and JD Sports have every brand under the sun from adidas to Veja.

Tech gifts for him

Ear buds

Back in April, Apple announced the updated iPhone SE, Mac Studio, Mac Studio Display and an upgraded iPad Air. Head to the Apple store and the friendly and informed team will talk you through the latest releases or help you find the perfect headphones (the new Beats Fit Pro are ideal for runners).

Workout gifts for him

Lululemon is not only smart and technically efficient for workouts, they’ve also got some really nice athleisure for men so you can invest in tees, hoodies and joggers that will work all weekend long. For hiking wears, backpacks and books, head to North Face for thoughtful Father’s Day gifts.

Lunch, brunch and dinner ideas

Fancy a day out? Or a night off? Whether you’re making it a big occasion or are escaping for the day, Bath SouthGate is well-known for its incredible selection of independent and household name bars, cafes and restaurants.

For a laidback lunch, GBK burgers, Franco Manca’s sourdough pizzas, Nando’s Peri Peri chicken and Comptoir’s mezze feasts never fail to hit the spot. Grab sushi at Yo! or head to Giraffe for all-day brunching, burger and skewers. Pizza Express is always a winner with kids plus there’s free doughballs if you download their app.

For drinks, BrewDog has 28 taps of craft beer with a 50% plant-based menu for vegans and veggies; Be At One is the place for celebratory Father’s Day cocktails (it’s two-for-one during Happy Hour) while Juno is all about craft beers, slushy cocktails, wings, pool tables and excellent music.

For nights out, we recommend Cosy Club for grown-up drinks served with mains including harissa lamb shoulder spiced cauliflower puree, tzatziki, flatbread, pomegranate, pickled slaw and crispy chickpeas or a dirty chicken burger mac and cheese fritter with fries, slaw and pickle. Graze Bar, Brewery & Chophouse features incredible menus of steak, surf ’n’ turf and vegan cod and chips complemented by their microbrewery’s fine ales, wine and spirits.

If you’re hanging out with friends, book Madrid-inspired Tapas Revolution featuring small sharing plates with ingredients from Spanish artisan producers or take a table on the terrace at Thaikhun – Thai street food such as Panang curry and Honey Moo crispy pork.

Original gifts for Father’s Day

Hotel Chocolat is the perfect place for kids to go shopping themselves and find chocolate slabs and sharing boxes featuring Fudge Sundaes, Chocolate Orange Pots and White Macarons for dad. If you’re looking for your partner, there is drinking chocolate, coffee pairings and unexpected salted caramel vodka and Chateau Chocolat red wine. If he wants to reboot his skincare regime, Boots is always a great store for shaving kits, body washes and Father’s Day special offers.

Gift cards and experiences

Movie and a meal? Or give him Tivoli Cinema vouchers so he can disappear to the big screen for some down time. One of the most beautiful cinemas in the UK, the Tivoli also serves up a seasonal menu with cocktails at the bar. BrewDog is also an essential visit for Father’s Day serving up craft beers and burgers with special beer schools for two or four and a dog pawty if he really loves his faithful dog (including special ice cream and Pawty hats). Thaikhun run a cooking school which is the ideal present for the foodie in your life plus they’ll learn how to make a two-course Thai meal: win and win.
